iMac Feedback...#1
by Shell Weinberg
For fellow iMac owners
The Little iMac Book

This column will be devoted to helping the iMac owner specifically. I
believe it will be helpful for fellow iMac owners to read about some of
the successes, as well as frustrations, I have experienced since this
new generation Macintosh has come into my life. Although you may be an
experienced Mac user, there is no doubt about the need to retrain to
master many of the new features presented in the iMac and OS 8.5.
As time goes on, I will try to offer suggestions that will help you
understand areas that have been difficult for me, and very likely
confusing for you as well. At the same time, I extend an invitation to
those of you who may also have some helpful advice to write the
information down and send it to me for inclusion in future columns.

We will start this "iMac Feedback" by suggesting that you purchase one
of the following two easy-read books on iMac operation. "The Little iMac
Book", by Robin Williams, Peachpit Press ($17.99); "The iMac for
DUMMIES", by David Pogue, IDG BOOKS ($19.99). Both are available
discounted at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. We offer "The Little
iMac Book" here in the Mac Learning Center for $17.00. As you know,
Apple did not furnish us with a printed Users Manual. To read, or print
out, operating instructions you must open Help Center, or Mac OS Help,
both stored on your HD.
We will also mention that I was not comfortable with the yo-yo mouse, so
I invested another $20 for the more traditional shaped macally "iMouse"
and have been happily mousing ever since. I ordered from the MacMall
catalog and it was delivered to my door in less than 24 hours. (800
